Singapore AIDS Candlelight Memorial on 18th May 2025 – How You Can Help
Singapore AIDS Candlelight Memorial is on 18th May 2025. It is a day to remember the lives lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, to raise awareness of HIV, and for the community to reaffirm solidarity with people living with HIV.
There are several ways you can partner with AfA Singapore to commemorate the memorial for this year.
On the day itself, do spare a moment in remembrance of those who have lost their lives to HIV & it’s stigmatisation.
Before 18th May, you can send us a message of support for the community, or a personal account of going through life after a HIV diagnosis. We’ll showcase them as part of raising solidarity during the memorial date.
You can also donate to our HIV support programmes by purchasing an AfA Candlelight Memorial Pin or Crocheted Red Ribbon from our online store through donate.afa.org.sg. The Candlelight Memorial Pin is a limited-edition item made with PINDEMIC’s kind support, while the crocheted red ribbons were lovingly handmade by our women’s support group.
Wear these pins to show your support, and if anybody asks why you are wearing them, help spark a conversation about the importance of the memorial and spreading HIV awareness.
SHARING SUPPORTIVE MESSAGES OR STORIES
Anyone can send in a quick message to show love and encouragement for people living with HIV or some kind words about raising support among the community. Do indicate what is your preferred name to sign off on your public message.
If you or your loved one has faced a HIV diagnosis, please share with us on something that has helped in taking the next steps in life after the diagnosis. Your sharing can help others understand more about living with HIV, and it can even encourage those who are going through their own personal journeys finding themselves or supporting someone else. We will use pseudonyms in place of any names provided to us.
